Hi! My name's Radha, I'm 19 and studying Medical Biosciences at Imperial College London.
I am a fluent English and Spanish speaker and was raised in London. I achieved 13 9s at GCSE and a 42 in the International Baccalaureate. I also achieved a Grade 8 distinction in Violin and a Grade 5 in Music theory.
I like to consider myself genuinely curious about the world around me. I believe that in any subject, however much we may struggle with it there is always curiosity to be found. As a child, I struggled with maths until a teacher sparked a genuine curiosity within me of it and it has been one of my fondest interests since. I wish to do this for others.
I have taught all ages (from 4-mid 70s) for several years in private and groups sports classes and have been a nanny and tutor for the past few months. In that time I have tutored violin, Maths, Chemistry and English. In school, I also participated in specific Biology and Maths groups which helped tutor younger years.
My teaching approach is simple yet effective. I like to first test my students to understand where the gaps in their understandings lie and where possible receive copies of their curriculum/ syllabus. I then plan focused tuition sessions around these trouble areas ensuring there is a logical order. I tend to find that discussion with a tutor is more effective than mindless practice questions (which I see better as a self-study technique).
I encourage my students to note any curiosities they discover away from our sessions for us to discuss within them and to be open about their struggles.
I set clear, organized plans for the classes but like to ensure I am flexible to allow the student to direct the class towards their difficulties.
