Hello everybody, my name is Raghavy.
I have always had a passion for the sciences, and how they can be practically applied in everyday life. This passion led to me achieving four A grade A-levels (Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology), and subsequently a degree in Natural Sciences (Neuroscience and Organic Chemistry) from University College London.
My other passion is teaching, which brings together my understanding of the sciences and the tools needed to achieve highest marks in examinations through techniques such as breaking down complex topics into easily understandable concepts + notes.
I started my chemistry tutoring journey in September 2015, and now have over 500 hours of tutoring experience over last 8 years. The experience acquired has enabled adapt my skills for analysing and identify the needs of each student and tailoring my teaching approach to complement their individual learning style. This is fundamental to my tutoring approach as each student can given their own unique way of tackling more challenging topics and exam questions.
I have helped my students achieve their target grades and more importantly a grade that reflect their true potential [see reviews]. Overall my experience from tutoring has helped me develop a wide curriculum knowledge for the 2015 specifications as I tutor the following exam boards: AQA, OCR A and OCR B (salters) and Edexcel. I have also prepared student for their IB examinations.
Each and every student has the capacity to achieve their target grade through careful strategising. It is not always about how much effort you put in but what you put that effort in to. I provide the platform for a positive teaching environment that motivates students to be more confident in their own abilities. Hence attaining knowledge but more importantly understanding which is essential for getting those marks. As well as going through all subject content specific to their relevant exam board, I ensure that my students practice exam questions straight after each topic and additional questions will be given for homework where they get a chance to further practice exam technique and ask any questions they have in their next lesson with me. This prepares them for their final exams and help consolidate their understanding of topics.
