I am friendly, positive and approachable. I have completed my PhD in Electronics Engineering from University of Huddersfield and worked four years as a post doctoral research assistant.
I have lived in Huddersfield for the past 14 years and have made this home. I have met some truly lovely people here and have returned to teaching work because it is the most fulfilling work I have done in my career. I seek to ignite an interest – if not passion – for the subjects I teach, and have usually been rewarded with enthusiastic engagement from my students.
I have been a visiting faculty on behalf of my university to a number of institutes in China during my PhD as well, to inspire them to come study here in the UK.
I have extensive experience of teaching GCSE as well as A-level Mathematics and Physics. I also tutor foundation (further higher) students, as well as Electronic Engineering.
A strong foundation is of paramount importance, as everything else is built upon, and its key lies in genuine interest and a lasting confidence in the subject. As a tutor, I believe it is my responsibility to pique that interest and grow that confidence in my students.
I primarily tutor online and use a cloud-based notebook for the lessons and I have found this to be the most useful format for both the student and myself. Alternatively I am happy to host the lessons at my home.
I have taught 8 GCSE and 3 A-Level students so far and classes of Bachelors and Masters in Electronics Engineering respectively. I took a break from tutoring during my post doctoral years, but I have found tutoring is something I truly enjoy and interacting with the students and sparking their passion for the subjects brings me a kind of joy I do not find anywhere else.
I offer a 50% discount on the first lesson for the sole reason that everyone is different and everyone has different needs in terms of learning and I acknowledge our diversities and wish to offer an opportunity to try out whether this is something we are both looking for.
I am a patient and motivating tutor, friendly and approachable. I feel it is my duty to get the skills across and strive to achieve that to the point where the student can feel confident to take things on his/her own. I actively encourage questions, and my best to find what works best for the specific student.
I help to develop a solid foundation because I have been lucky enough to encounter a few teachers like that, and that has helped me immensely in finding joy in STEM subjects, especially Maths. A quick and easy approach to clear exams can only take it so far, but the patience for a solid foundation prepares an individual to tackle and even discover a love for the subject which stays with us forever.
