I am a newly qualified doctor working in London and I have six years of experience in tutoring individuals up to KS3, GCSE and A levels. I have completed A levels in Chemistry and Biology and achieved As in these. I have completed a masters degree in Forensic Medical Sciences (distinction) in 2022 and my Medicine degree in 2024. I regularly help aspiring applicants to Medicine with entry exams, their personal statements and interview tips.
I have been tutoring privately for about six years now and have taught Biology and Chemistry at A level and GCSE. I have been able to adapt to my student’s way of learning in the first few lessons and have been able to identify their strengths and weaknesses. This has allowed me to tailor the lesson so that the student takes away from it as much as they can.
A part-time tutor role for two years involved me taking on a zone of 6 children who were aged anywhere between 4-14 and I tutored them Maths and English for an hour at the same time. I also had to write session notes summarising what they covered in their session that day and what they had support with. I helped with 11+ classes run every week which helped children with the entry test for grammar school.
I believe every child learns differently and therefore each would require different methods of teaching which can be determined after getting to know the child better. I can tailor learning to the child’s needs and can identify easily when they are struggling with a certain topic as I often use assessment as a means of testing understanding after each topic.
I often follow the board textbook closely and ensure the whole specification has been covered. I follow up learning with exam questions and often encourage making notes of only key points which are usually not able to be retained for the long term.
