After a career as a chartered accountant, during which I tutored as a volunteer with the Access Project, I decided to make the switch into teaching full time, and am now training for a PGCE in Secondary Maths.
I achieved the highest grades in my GCSE's, A Levels and Accounting and Finance Degree, and achieved all first time passes in my chartered accounting exams (which is rare!).
I have recently completed a PGCE in Secondary Maths teaching with King's College London. As part of this I have experience working in both Primary and Secondary schools, and across KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level. In addition, I have worked in both the Private and State sectors (and as such have an enhanced DBS certificate). I am now a full time, qualified secondary maths teacher.
I have extensive experience of tutoring at Primary level for SATS, and secondary level up to GCSE for Maths, Science and Statistics, as well as Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Business Studies/Economics for A Level. I have also tutored accounting at degree level.
I am absolutely passionate about teaching, and believe that every child is capable of achieving the best marks, especially when given one-to-one, tuition tailored to their way of thinking. I believe in an understanding-first approach to teaching, while always keeping exam technique and achievement in mind - there's no point rote learning words and methods if you don't understand what they mean!
