I am a very experienced teacher of A level Politics and I have been a senior examiner for the most popular exam board for nearly twenty years.
I currently teach UK and American politics (comparative), at a successful secondary school in Surrey. I also deliver the Extended Project Qualification at my school.
I am currently supporting students who are studying Pearson 3A, US Politics, 3B, Global Politics, and AQA Politics. Two of my current students (one studying Pearson and one studying AQA), received a significantly improved grade for their Politics mock, in the summer term, 2024.
I have taught and examined A level Politics for over two decades. I have an excellent understanding of the best learning, revision and exam techniques to help students succeed, at both AS and A level Politics. This summer, I was an examiner for AQA Component 2 (7152/2), on US and comparative politics.
I can and do support students who are studying for both examination boards, (see above), but I am particularly experienced with Pearson/ Edexcel - I was a Principal Examiner for over five years, and I wrote live 9PL02 exam papers.
You can see from my feedback, from around twenty students and their parents, that I have successfully supported a wide variety of tutees with their individual needs, leading to successful outcomes.
I also have parents I have worked with who are willing to personally recommend me.
I can support all students to improve their chances of exam success, whatever their target grades.
My approach is very student led in the first instance, using a coaching style of questioning. Every student is an individual in their own right, with their own preferred style of learning. I work closely with each student to identify the best way forward to increase their understanding of the subject.
I will provide essay scaffolding and question templates to help students achieve their full potential in timed exams.
I am taking on new Y13 students, to help them improve their UCAS predicted grades and to prepare them for their Y13 mock assessments. I currently have fairly good availability: Tuesday evening, from 6.30 onwards start; Thursday evening, 6pm or 7.30pm start; Saturday morning 11am start. If you can't make any of these days/times, I should be able to find something that will work for you.
