Rayane

Hello, my name is Rayane. I’m a 20 year old Mathematics students at the university of Glasgow. I am originally from Edinburgh and studied at Fettes college from age 7-18. This is where I developed my love for mathematics.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience of helping students from KS1-KS5 with great success. I have experience of the Mathematics 13 plus scholarships examinations having sat them myself. I understand how Mathematics can be daunting for some, but I do believe that it doesn’t need to be this way. I have enjoyed seeing students’ reactions when a complex problem is broken down and begins to make sense and that sense of ‘aha’ can be seen in their smile.

Tutoring Approach

I feel it’s important that during my lessons the student gets the maximum benefit from the time spent. I I totally assess what the learning needs are and then deceive a plan, with the student, to achieve the desired goals. One of my strengths is that I can adapt to different learning styles, I am good at making positive relationships with student and I understand the GCSE curriculum well. I provide regular feedback post-lesson, so parents understand what has been covered, what went well and any areas that need further work. I am happy to provide homework and looks at any schoolwork that the student needs help with. When tutoring I utilise a three step approach, understanding content, learning to apply this knowledge to problem solving and or practicing questions from a variety of sources. I have large amount of exam questions to practice on from all major examination boards. I also help with exam technique as this is essential in trying to secure higher grade boundaries.
