I love being Head of Science in a large costal comprehensive school and when I am not at work I enjoy travelling the world and spending time with my wonderful friends and family.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching in a large secondary comprehensive for 8 years. I have been Head of a large Science department for the past 2.5 years. I have been teaching GCSE Science (combined and triple) for the past 7 years and I have been teaching A level Biology for the past 6 years. My 2 previous year 13 cohorts (examinable in 2022 and 2023) achieved over 50% A-A* grades. I have been private tutoring for GCSE and A level for the past 6 years.

Tutoring Approach

I believe direct instruction and explicit modelling is the best teaching approach and I have been using this method for several years now in the classroom. Within the private tuition setting, I explicitly reteach key information and then focus on applying this knowledge through the use of exam questions.
