Rhiannon

I am an experienced secondary school teacher and Head of Department at leading independent schools. My main subject is Geography, where I have a first class degree from University of Cambridge, an MPhil (Merit) and a PGCE with QTS. I am also interested in study skills to allow for success at all stages in the future, and I have A Levels in Maths and Chemistry (both A*). As part of my teaching experience, I have skills preparing students for university entrance, particularly Oxbridge, and school entrance at both 11+ and 16+.

Tutoring Experience

I have a range of significant teaching experience from 11-18 focusing on geography, wider study skills and university entrance, particularly Oxbridge. Furthermore, I have extensive experience in independent schools and I can therefore help students with applications for these at all levels.
I am a qualified teacher with an exceptional academic background (1st class degree University of Cambridge; MPhil - Merit; 3 A Levels at A*A*A), meaning I have significant knowledge to tutor students to different levels in Geography, Chemistry and Maths.
My experience is focused on helping students get the top grades at GCSE and A Level, along with aiding students to get into schools and universities of their choice.

Tutoring Approach

Based on significant experience in schools and through pedagogical research, I aim to encourage students to develop their own ways of working that they can apply effectively beyond the tuition section. I focus on ensuring I understand their current level and targets, along with areas where they feel less confident in their knowledge. I ensure that students understand the material they need to, while focusing on the learning processes behind this enabling students to be able to identify this for themselves across other subjects. Therefore, all my sessions will be objective-focused, with clear guidance on how to learn, remember and implement information.
