I have been a qualified Mathematics teacher for over 20 years. I have been nominated for teacher of the year in two of my previous schools, I didn't win, however the fact that students took the time and initiative to nominate me demonstrates the successful learning relationships developed.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a Head of Maths for 4 years of a department of 25 staff in an Outstanding secondary school with a sixth form of approx 1850 students. I have also been a maths advisor for the last 5 years, working in 8 different and varied schools, advising staff on teaching maths in a dynamic of and enjoyable style, after all if the teacher is not enjoying their lessons then why should the students? Effective planning, use of resources, and teaching styles are my main focuses.

Tutoring Approach

Many students, and adults, find maths intimidating, after all it is a language all of its own. As methods and teaching approaches have developed it has become increasingly difficult for parents to help their children. My belief and approach is to seek to demistify maths and make being successful fun and the challenge enjoyable. I promise to boost your child's confidence and understanding, and make them look forward to maths lessons at school as they grow in confidence and are able to become leaders rather than passive followers.
