I have taught for over 30 years in the private sector, mainly at A level and GCSE. Getting good results is important, and I have a strong track record in helping my students achieve them. That said, my main aim has always been to try to ensure that lessons are interesting, accessible and enjoyable.
At Key Stage 4 my main focus in recent years has been on the delivery of the CIE IGCSE. The options that I have covered are International Relations 1918 – 1989 and, for the Depth Study, Germany 1918-1989. I have also taught Russian History from 1905 onwards. At A level I have taught a very wide range of courses, since I enjoy the opportunity to research new periods. I have delivered Medieval, Early Modern and Modern British courses. In terms of European history, I have taught the Reformation and the Renaissance as well as the Crusades and Nationalism in the Nineteenth Century. I have also taught American History at A Level for several years.
I believe lessons should be engaging and interactive and always strive to adapt each session to the needs of the student. I am always happy to prepare resources and mark work to assist the learning process.
