I have worked in Film and Media education since 1998. As well as teaching and lecturing, consulting and private tutoring I develop and market teaching and learning resources. I have worked with degree, MA Film/Media students, 14-19 year olds (GCSE/A Level) and delivered CPD to teachers, adapting my pedagogy accordingly. I was writer and editor for Film and Media online educational resource Edusites Ltd. and am an accredited Into Film Practitioner. I curriculum managed a large Media department in an Ofsted Outstanding college from 2000 to 2011 before becoming a freelance Film and Media Consultant. Since then I have worked as an online/onsite consultant in schools and colleges and to undergraduates, as a consultant to the BFI running study days yearly since 2011 and as an Examiner and Moderator. My most recent DBS is 2021.
11 years as Media and Film Curriculum Manager (and teacher) at an Ofsted outstanding college, 10 years as a freelance Media and Film consultant with significant experience of private tutoring and as an Examiner.
My approach is always listening, always treating the learner as an individual while being pro active, sometimes dogged and determined using as many teaching styles as possible to help the tutee - differentiation and flexibility is also important to me. It is also crucial the student feels comfortable and at ease to maximise learning potential.
