I started my professional career as a clarinettist with one of the London Guards Bands and performed throughout the UK including the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall as well as doing radio and TV work and recordings. Being in a military band required being able to play different styles of music including classical, jazz and popular.
In addition to my long-standing and varied experience as a clarinettist, I have been teaching clarinet for over 40 years. I enjoy sharing my love of playing the clarinet by teaching students of all ages, from childhood beginners to someone who is taking exams at advanced level.
I believe there are some vital qualities to have as a teacher: patience, a love of music and being able transmit that, and the ability to establish solid technical ability.
I am CRB (Now DBS) registered.
