Tutoring Experience
I worked as a Primary Teacher for 5 years before moving to the secondary sector as Principal Teacher of Numeracy between 3 secondary schools. I now work full time as a Mathematics teacher in a secondary school.
Tutoring Approach
I am passionate about teaching for understanding and developing a love of mathematics in pupils. I recognise that many young people have a negative association with Maths which often stems from a lack of confidence in basic skills. I identify areas of development and focus on a range of strategies to promote understanding.
I have a wealth of experience in teaching online via Microsoft Teams and tutoring Mathematics and Numeracy on Zoom to all levels, up to and including National 5. In one-to-one tutoring sessions, I start by getting to know the student and use a range of strategies based on what works best for each individual.
