Hello!
I'm a fully qualified Primary School Teacher with a passion for lifelong learning. I have experience working in Mainstream and SEND specialist schools. Since becoming a Mum to my young son, I’m looking at tutoring again. I'm local to Altrincham and am happy to travel and give tuition in homes around Hale/ Altrincham/ Lymm/ Sale/ Didsbury/ Wilmslow areas. It may also be possible for tutoring sessions to be held at my home, if preferred.

Tutoring Experience

I trained as a teacher with the University in Cumbria. After training I worked in a Primary school in Bolton where I taught Nursery and then a year 1 class. During my time with this primary school Ofsted inspected us and graded my classroom and teaching as Outstanding. I then moved to Devon where I taught a range of year groups across Primary. Prior to having my son, I moved to working as a Speech and Language therapy practitioner, under qualified therapists. I’m level 2 Makaton trained and working towards my level 3.

I have extensive experience working with children with SEND. Including Autism and co conditions, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, PDA, Attachment Disorder, PTSD and Communication difficulties. If your child has an EHCP I’m offering tuition at a reduced rate.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to make learning activities fun and interactive. I take a child led approach and seek to utilise their interests and hobbies into activities. I use a lot of positive reinforcement and rewards to help build confidence and maintain motivation. Learning should be a fun and engaging experience that builds up a child confidence and a joy of learning. This is what I endeavour to give to my students.

Spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG)
Handwriting skills
Drama and presentation skills
Study skills
Emotional regulation strategies
Improving focus and attention strategies

Depending on what works best for your childs age and stage, sessions could be 30/45/60 minutes and priced accordingly. Please get in touch for more information.
