I'm a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge, where I studied Linguistics, achieving a first class degree and finishing 5th in my year in my final exams. I got 3 A1s in my Advanced Higher exams in school, as well as 5 A1s in my Highers, and have a wide range of academic interests and strengths, including maths, sciences, languages and English.
I currently work for an outreach program in the Edinburgh area where I provide Maths and Physics tutoring to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, both in person and on-line, for a variety of levels of study, so I am very experienced at planning and delivering tutoring sessions. I also find this work extremely rewarding and I receive great satisfaction in seeing a topic click for a pupil and finding them enjoying an area of study.
I understand that everyone learns differently, so my approach to tutoring centres around a personalised experience, tailored to the individual. I find that when tutoring sessions focus on what works best for a pupil, they become much more engaging and enjoyable. This shifts the focus to greater understanding and enjoyment of the topics, and away from simply rote-learning, allowing my pupils to achieve better outcomes in the subject.
