I am a passionate historian and sociologist that loves the subjects that I teach. I have been studying history and sociology for many years now, as well as teaching history and sociology for the past three years. Despite my age, my historical knowledge is incredibly broad and I am very well read.
My passion is to spread my love of history to all that wish to learn. This is reflected deeply in my current pedagogical practice. In my spare time, I love to read history books and visit historical sites. I rely heavily on my experience of travelling to various historical sites across Europe, which has only made me love history more.
I am currently in my third year of teaching, and my third year of teaching in London.
My first year of teaching provided me with extensive knowledge of online teaching, which I taught both history and sociology from KS3 to KS5. In this time, I was teaching the Edexcel syllabus.
During my second year of teaching, I taught in a smaller school (one to one teaching primarily and small groups). Here, I specialised with SEN students and high ability learners. My pedagogical experience of mental health has become proficient as a result of my time teaching at the school. I currently teach the AQA specification up to KS5.
I have covered a wide range of topics, such as:
- Russia: From Tsardom to Communism
- Germany: From Democracy to Dictatorship
- Medicine and the People
- Empire, Migration, and the People
- Restoration England
- Conflict and Tension: The First World War
- Crime and Punishment (Whitechapel)
- American Civil Rights
For sociology I have taught all of the following topics:
- Families and Households
- Crime and Deviance
- Education
- Research Methods
- Social Stratification
- Methods in Context
- Theories
- Media (KS5)
- Beliefs in Society (KS5)
- Families and Households (KS5)
I personally built my own curriculum for both history and sociology, constructing them from the ground up. My students find that my lessons are engaging and allow them to see the context behind each topic - rather than reduce it to pure exam practice.
Currently, I have received a 100% pass rate during my time as a teacher.
I am able to teach students that are ADHD and ASD, as well as GAD and anxiety disorders.
My approach to teaching is simple:
- Autonomous learning (giving students the chance to build their own metacognitive strategies).
- Hands-on (giving students the chance to witness and breathe the subjects they are learning).
- Resilience (allowing students to build their own foundations and to deal with stress when it appears).
- Dual-coding (this is present in all of my lessons, it has been proven to help improve learning significantly).
- Rapport and Empathy (all students deserve a chance to learn, they deserve a chance to know their teachers and vice versa).
- Patience (every person deserves a chance to demonstrate their abilities).
