Hi! I'm currently a biosciences student at Manchester University. I have just completed my medicine application and am waiting to hear the outcomes of my three interviews.
I studied a range of subjects at A level including Biology (in which I achieved an A*) as well as English Literature, History, French and an EPQ. I enjoyed all my subjects and have a passion for languages as well as sciences. I am a native English and Spanish speaker and spent my gap year living and working as a language assistant in France in order to perfect my French.
I realised I wanted to study medicine and am currently on a biosciences course, that covers and goes further than A level Chemistry and Biology.
I'd love to use my skills and knowledge be able to support other students in their studies and reaching their goals.
Last year I spent the year working as an English teacher in a school in France. I gained experience in lesson planning as well as teaching in the classroom. It was really fascinating seeing the different ways each student learnt and over the year I managed to really incorporate this into my lessons. I tutored a few students from other schools outside of school hours which taught me the specific skills needed when working one to one.
Each person is unique and my teaching methods reflect this. I aim to work closely with each tutee to find what works best for them and will tailor my lessons accordingly.
I find the use of visual aids such as diagrams and models to be helpful and often incorporate these into my lessons. I go through examples exercises and practise questions after the explanation to be able to allow the student to apply the skills and knowledge we went over in the lesson and to demonstrate the kinds of questions and topics that are often asked about in exams.
