I am a mature teacher, having entered teaching after successful careers in banking and the law. I feel that my previous experience makes me a better teacher as I can offer my pupils practical advice and guidance based on what happens in the real world. I am also passionate about reading and the benefit it brings to children and young people, and have completed my Master of Arts (Education), based on how to engage and motivate pupils in relation to reading.
I have taught at a number of state funded secondary schools in East Sussex, covering a range of different abilities. I have also worked as a private tutor with a number of private students, who are either being home schooled or need a bit of extra support. I also have experience with privately tutoring SEN pupils and a several Looked After Children in care or foster homes.
I try to make my lessons interesting, inspiring and stimulating, whilst forming a close relationship with my pupils. I gradually build their confidence and resilience to enable them to do well in the demanding exams they have to take. I am well prepared and make sure that my resources are differentiated to meet the needs of the individual pupils.
