I am an experienced Lecturer and tutor in History. I gained a PhD in History from the University of Birmingham and have worked in the Higher Education sector for over 12 years.
I have degrees in History from the University of Leeds (UG) and Birmingham (MA and PhD) and have taught at the Universities of Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucestershire and South Wales.
Outside of my job, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. I have two young boys and an excitable spaniel who keep me on my toes! I am an avid netball player and enjoy travelling.
I have experience tutoring pupils at GCSE level and above in History. I am familiar with the curriculum and can also help students with all topics and themes covered at these levels.
I am engaging and friendly and tailor my teaching to the individual student's needs. I have won awards for my teaching at University level and take great joy in seeing students succeed.
I spend time with each student to understand their specific needs, their strengths and weaknesses and tailor my tutoring appropriately. I offer help with understanding the topics (content and context), how to approach, analyse and evaluate sources, engage with scholarly literature, and how to write convincing and persuasive essays.
