Hi there, I am Stephanie, an avid lover of both History and teaching from a young age, from pretending that my bedroom was my classroom and researching for my own displays to put on my door! I carried this through by studying up to Advanced Higher in school and going on to qualify with a 2:1 in the subject for my undergraduate degree, specialising in American History. During this time I also had the opportunity to go to the University of Mississippi where I could experience a different culture and see how History was taught from their side. I achieved a Distinction in my MLitt Museum Studies, where I had work experience in the educational department of Tullie House Museum in Carlisle. I then completed my PGDE in History at the University of Glasgow and have since gained experience in teaching Modern Studies, Geography and RMPS.
I am a qualified History teacher, having taught in both Angus and Aberdeenshire and have presented pupils for their SQA Nationals 3, 4 and 5 for the past two years, giving me experience in both marking and teaching to the national standard. I am also a marker for the SQA and regularly attend Understanding Standards meetings which have furthered my knowledge and understanding of exactly what the SQA will and will not accept and in-depth knowledge of any changes.
I enjoy learning each pupil’s individual learning style whether this be through the likes of acronyms to learn structures of questions, visuals such as highlighting or scaffolding their writing to help them achieve their target goal.
