Private Maths and English Tutor in Northampton

Hello!
I am an experienced primary school teacher (since 2008) based in Northampton (NN4), who has worked across the primary age range, from Nursery, up!
I specialise in working with children and parents who are anxious about school, and their progress. I can support children to make accelerated progress in whichever subject is causing them a problem. Whether that is maths, reading, writing, spelling... If it's within the primary curriculum, I can help you with it! Working together, we can devise a program of support to move your child on.

Please contact me directly to receive more detailed comments on my tutoring system. Removed

Tutoring Approach

I believe that school and learning should be a joy, and I do my best to make tutoring fun for everyone! I always tutor in the students own home, as I find they are most comfortable and at ease there.

Parents are welcome to sit in on the session if they wish, but I generally find the student will open up to me more about their learning if we are alone (although I always insist that a parent or carer is within "calling distance" if needed).
Parents are always encouraged to spend a few moments with the student and myself at the end of a session to discuss the work covered that session, what will come next, and to raise any questions or comments.

We will spend the first lesson or two, getting to know each other, identifying what the problem is, and then working together to devise an action plan to get over that hurdle (I will ask that the parent join us for this final step - especially for a younger child).
We will use a range of strategies to move the students skills on. We'll use games, challenges, problem solving, and real life scenarios.
I'm also extremely flexible. If there is something that has come up that week at school, that the student has struggled with, let me know! We can go over it together! A huge part of tutoring is being responsive to needs as and when they arise!

If you would like to know more about how I run my tutoring system and what costs are involved, please contact me to receive my sheet of FAQs. In there I have tried to answer the most common questions!
