I am 37, a mum of two (girl 8yrs and boy 3yrs) and full time tutor. I have a real passion for teaching and seeing children believe in themselves and achieve. I left my primary teaching role in 2018. I love teaching but I don't feel the child is at the heart of education anymore. Too much pressure is put on the teachers and children and there are so many constraints.
I believe the child's well being and self belief is equally as important as their academic ability.
I qualified with a 2:1 in 2004 with a BA in primary education with early years. I have 15 years teaching experience in an infant school where I taught reception, year one and year two. I have extensive knowledge of the early years and key stage one curriculums. I have been private tutoring for 3 years, which I find thoroughly rewarding and totally love doing it!
I am passionate about providing opportunities for children to learn in a fun, practical way. I believe in promoting a positive mindset and developing children's wellbeing, therefore optimising academic achievement. This is at the heart of my teaching.
My tutoring enables children to believe in themselves, build confidence and grasp skills that are rushed through (or the teacher is simply too overstretched to address!) in an informal, relaxed, fun environment. My lessons are individual according to the needs of each child and very much play based.
I specialise in Maths tuition for reception to year three.
