I am a physics teacher. I have experience of different specifications such as: Edexcel, OCR, AQA, CIE etc.
I am a Chartered Physicist (CPhys) and a full member of the Institute of Physics (MINSTP) I have been published by Hodder Education, Scholastic and the AQA group.
I have a Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration (studied in the Spanish language). I am a life-long learner and my love for learning makes the learning process fascinating for me and I am able to vary the approach so it suits each student.
I have several years of experience in the classroom and as a private on-line tutor. I am also an examiner for Edexcel and AQA at GCSE and A level. I am fortunate in the fact that I really enjoy my job. I have always been able to help children move forward regardless of their starting point.
I speak Spanish fluently and German fairly fluently.
For fun, I like playing the guitar and speed chess.
I have taught KS3, GCSE/ IGCSE and A-level physics in UK schools now for well over 15 years. I have experience of working in both the independent and maintained sector and have worked as a private tutor primarily of physics but have also supported students of GCSE and A-level German and Spanish.
I also have experience of teaching Engineering Principles BTEC.
As a physics teacher/tutor I have led hundreds of students to achieve A and A* grades in both A level and GCSE or IGCSE.
I am very confident in my knowledge of different syllabi and have written a series of 9-1 GCSE exam practice books for Scholastic the largest publisher of educational books for children. The books mirror my own approach to teaching by using structured worked examples so students gain confidence in the process of answering questions then allow them to apply these techniques with several exam style questions. This is the most effective way of improving exam technique and it has led to extremely effective results with level 9 or A* being commonplace for my students.
I work as an examiner at both GCSE and A level for a major UK examining board. This gives me a really sharp insight into how the marks are awarded for questions nationwide and instructs my teaching methodology.
I put the student at the centre of the learning experience and teach physics in an interactive way with plenty of examples that make the concepts easier to understand.
I am a firm believer in the adage that 'practice makes perfect' for this reason I will work directly on student's exam technique by applying the physics knowledge to physics questions. The questions could be multiple choice, closed response or open response questions. I will help students gain confidence in all of the different question types.
