Sam supported my daughter in writing her Personal Statement because her English was her second language.
Finally, she got into St Andrews Uni to study Astrophysics, she is very happy… We are very grateful for Sam's support, my daughter got all offers that she wanted (apart from Oxford but she plainly did not get through the PAT test)
Especially Sam went above and beyond, pointing out that my daughter would need some coaching and tutoring in Physics (for university interviews). That was greatly appreciated, as this timely feedback allowed us to get a good tutor in Physics!
Highly recommended

My 16 year old daughter found working with Samantha an invaluable experience and helped raise my daughter's grades. She thoroughly enjoyed working with Samantha and is now at her preferred 6th form college. I have no hesitation in recommending Sam's excellent services and feel she can add tremendous value.

Samantha’s support and advice on anything will leave you remembering it for life not just after the lesson. She will give you all her time and treats your subject just like it’s hers.
Thank you, Hana! It was brilliant having such a committed student!!!

We were completely put off by this tutor's response when we asked for photo identification and pupil references as per First Tutors advice (not simply the statements on the website which could be written by anyone since they just have a first name and no contact info). Asking for this info is a standard practice if you are trusting your child in their care. If a tutor is understanding this should be a very welcome request and the details ought to be provided promptly. She first did not reply and when I sent a reminder email, she came back with a rather abrupt reply not providing the information requested but ( an illegible, no photo) DBS. So we did not proceed with this tutor's appointment.
Dear Monica,
I have replied to you more fully by email. I regret that I am unable to provide hard copies of references or testimonials because FirstTutors is a digital system. References and testimonials are sent via secure portals set up by FirstTutors and accessible only by referees and by clients and parents who choose to leave testimonials. I therefore have no access to hard copies of testimonials or references. I, like you, can only read the content that has been placed on the website.
I have never before been asked to show ID, but would have been happy to provide hard copies in person; emailing personal documentation is insecure and poses risks of identity theft. As I understand it, such valid concerns are why FirstTutors recommend that such documentation be shared in person at the first lesson. I emailed you DBS documentation in spite of these concerns in appreciation of your concerns for the welfare of your child. The DBS documentation I emailed has been accepted by several other tutor agencies as perfectly legible and does not include a photographic element. I would have called you last night to clear this up but appointments kept me until late. If you had grave concerns, you would, of course, have been welcome to reach me by phone.
Best wishes,
From Amar
You are a quite brilliant tutor and mentor Sam. You were a tremendous support for Y at a crucial time in her academic career. I cannot thank you enough and would wholeheartedly recommend you at anytime. Y thinks you have a mind the size of a planet! Thank you and best wishes, A
I'm blushing, thank you! Your daughter was a joy to work with. Please ask her to let me know how she gets on!

Samantha proved to be devoted, trustworthy and professional. My expectations have not only been fulfilled but exceed. We have started the tuition very late, just a few weeks before exams, and I was almost becoming hopeless something could be done in such a short period of time. In the end, my son said he has never felt so comfortable and confident in the exam room.
Thanks Victoria, it's been a pleasure working with your son and meeting you both. As ever. confidence is key!
