Hello! My name is Sam. I am Head of an independent Lower School (primary, ages 3-11). I have a first class degree in English, which is my area of specialism, and I am passionate about books and the effect that learning to read can have on children’s lives.
I offer tutoring across the entire primary curriculum, tailored specifically to your child’s strengths and needs.
I live in Whitstable with my partner, son and dog.
I have a range of teaching experience teaching in various primary school settings and have worked across the age ranges from reception to Year 6. I worked in Year 6 for 4 years where I was responsible for helping children make accelerated progress to achieve their potential in the SATs tests, as well as supporting Year 5 children to prepare for their 11+ examination. I have a breadth of experience when working with children who require additional support, including those with diagnosed needs.
I am a firm believer in the importance of confidence and enthusiasm as a gateway to learning. I try to ensure each lesson is as engaging and enjoyable as possible. I will meet the pupil and their parents to discuss what areas of study they wish to work on to ensure lessons are well targeted to their needs and I will carry out my own assessments in order to target any specific areas to improve upon. I strongly believe that all children are capable of achieving personal and academic success if they are helped to believe in themselves and are provided with the right support.
