Maths and Physics Lessons in Harlow

I'm a passionate and dedicated science teacher with a strong commitment to helping students develop a deep understanding of the subject and a curiosity about the world around them. I'm currently teaching at Sir Frederick Gibberd College, where I’ve been delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities.

I believe in creating a positive classroom environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I place a strong emphasis on practical work and real-life applications of science to make learning more meaningful.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy collaborating with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and participate in extracurricular activities that enrich the school community. Teaching, for me, is not just about delivering content—it's about inspiring students to think critically, develop resilience, and become lifelong learners.

Tutoring Experience

I’ve been teaching science for the past 10 years, and during that time, I’ve gained experience across a range of year groups and abilities. I’ve taught key stages 3 and 4 extensively, and I’m confident in delivering all three sciences—biology, chemistry, and physics. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how to plan and differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with SEND and EAL backgrounds.

One of the areas I take pride in is making science engaging and relevant—whether through practical experiments, real-world applications, or cross-curricular links. I’ve also contributed to curriculum planning, mentored newer teachers, and taken part in whole-school initiatives to raise attainment and support student well-being.

My experience has helped me become adaptable, reflective, and always willing to try new strategies to support student progress and engagement.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is student-centered, practical, and grounded in high expectations. I believe that every student can succeed in science when given the right support and opportunities, so I focus on creating lessons that are both accessible and challenging. I use a range of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic—and I often incorporate practical work and real-life contexts to make the subject meaningful.

Assessment for learning is a big part of my approach. I use questioning, low-stakes quizzes, and regular feedback to check understanding and address misconceptions early. I also emphasize building students’ confidence and independence by encouraging inquiry, resilience, and problem-solving.

Consistency, clear routines, and positive relationships are key in my classroom. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel safe to take risks and ask questions. Ultimately, my goal is to not only help students achieve strong outcomes but also to foster a lasting interest in science
