I have a BSc (Hons) (2011), an MSc in Biomedical Sciences (2013), and a PhD in cancer genomics (2023). I have a thorough and extensive knowledge of biological and medical sciences and worked as a demonstrator for undergraduate students during my time as a PhD student. I also have a PGCE in further and higher education (PCET) (2014) so I am a fully qualified teacher for the 16+ age group.
I have tutored extensively and have also taught biology, chemistry and study skills at schools, colleges of further education and at University level (Russell Group Universities) in England, Wales and Scotland. I have significant experience of teaching both theory and laboratory based practical science. I worked as the lead demonstrator at the University of Liverpool for several years for all undergraduate biosciences and veterinary students.
I take a hands on approach with teaching. I believe science should interest and fascinate and I will use any combination of charts, graphs and drawings to ensure my student thoroughly understands and enjoys the subject. One of my strengths is understanding the needs of each individual student and tailoring the session to fit the style with which that student learns best.
