Tutoring Experience

Qualified, empathetic, patient and experienced teacher of English. Reading and Literacy Lead. 30 years of experience in both primary/secondary/further education. Currently teaching AQA and Edexcel 9-1 English Language and Literature. Eduquas Language and Literature. Experienced, friendly and empathetic tuition employing a range of teaching styles suited to individual student needs. Specialist in preparation for 11+, 13+, common entrance and public examinations. Study skills and revision. AQA English Literature examiner. Cross-curricular literacy and reading leader. Liaison with schools and Educational Psychologists. Experienced with various exam boards, including Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA, OCR.

Each session is tailored to each student's individual needs, targets and requirements
A clear plan will be provided for progress
A range of effective strategies are employed according to recommendations and student needs
A typical session is one hour
A free initial 15 minute meeting will be offered in order to meet, discuss needs and plan an effective approach
A teacher of 30 years,in a range of schools- both private and state run. Most recently as a Reading and Literacy leader with a particular interest and expertise in reading for learning. Successfully tutoring for 20 years to prepare students for entrance exams, SATs, GCSE and A level exams, EPQ, University entrance.
