I am a qualified teacher with a career going back some twenty years. I have worked in the primary and post 16 sectors and I also have experience tutoring children in years 7 to 11. . I have a BA degree in English and I currently work as a part-time teacher of l English Language and English Literature at GCSE and A Level. I am a former teacher of Classical Civilisation and was an examiner for this subject. I currently teach a Latin class for beginners.
I am a mother with three grown up children and my interests include reading, creative writing, walking and travelling, drama and films and music.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught in the primary sector from age 3 to 11 in a range of rural and urban settings. I have previous experience tutoring in English and a wide ranging knowledge of the subject. I currently teach A level English Language, A level English Literature and GCSE English Language in a post 16 setting.

I offer individual tuition in English language and literature at primary and secondary level, GCSE and A level and Classical Civilisation at GCSE and A level and first stage Latin. I also have experience working with adult learners.

I also offer individual tuition in Classical Civilisation GCSE and A'level.

Tutoring Approach

I was originally trained to deliver a child centred education and I feel it is essential to nurture and develop the strengths of each student and to tailor all teaching appropriately to the needs of the individual. I aim to encourage each student to fulfil their potential and I have high expectations.

I feel it is important to establish a rapport based on mutual respect and understanding and to act as an enabler and facilitator to the learning process. It is also worth bearing in mind that the learning journey continues through life.
