With 20 years of experience teaching Spanish and French, from beginners through to A Level, I can appreciate that every language learner is unique. Everyone enters a tutoring programme with different starting points and varied goals, therefore, having a tutor that demonstrates flexibility, efficient communication and adaptability to the needs of each individual learner is key. Whether you are seeking a tutor to support and scaffold your learning prior to formal examinations or if you simply want opportunities for conversation practice or to develop your grammatical awareness, I provide a supportive, positive learning environment in which people can thrive and progress. Spanish is my primary specialism but I also consider requests for French tutoring to GCSE level.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked across three UK state and independent schools since 2002, including roles as Head of Spanish and also as Head of the Modern Languages Departments in two leading independent schools. I have worked with individuals (school aged learners and adults), small groups and wider learning communities, building confidence and linguistic skills. I have a detailed understanding of exam board requirements at Common Entrance, GCSE and A Level and have worked as an examiner for CIE IGCSE Spanish. Tutoring languages and also mentoring pupils through their GCSE and A Level options processes has been a hugely rewarding career path to date.

Tutoring Approach

I love to help instil a sense of achievement and capability in my students. Working alongside individuals is hugely rewarding and, in my view, the key to building a strong rapport with a student is to always listen, to fully understand what their specific goals are and to work towards that goal, increasing student confidence every step of the way. Paired or small group sessions for groups of friends and / or colleagues can also be an effective way to learn in a cost efficient way. Prices available on request.
