I am a successful, hardworking, and experienced History teacher who is dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for my students. I currently work part-time teaching History and Psychology in a local secondary school. As well as this I have 2 young children.
I have 16 years of classroom experience and have taught in 3 different schools across the south west. Throughout this time I have prepared lessons and resources, tracked progress, marked work including controlled, exam papers, mock exams and have even marked for exam boards marking papers. I have a high success rate in the classroom with 2016- 94% A*-C, 2017- 49% A*-C (these were the best results in the department that year). Prior to 2018, History GCSE encompassed a coursework module and controlled assessment is something I still teach currently to the A Level History students. My 2024 results were 70% 4+, 50% 5+, and 40% 7+ with a VA of 0.17. My current year 11’s have just completed their mock exams successfully with 60% of students meeting their target grades with some surpassing these by several grades.
For the past 7 years I have resourced and delivered the A Level psychology lessons and have more recently marked for AQA marking exam papers in the summer. My results have been positive with my class last year achieving 100% A*-E (53% A*-C), and 73% achieving A*-C in 2023. This is with a class of 20 students- I would anticipate results higher than this with One-one tutoring.
My ability to offer a warm and safe learning environment is one of my key strengths, and one which I feel makes me a strong teacher and tutor. Creating a child-centred approach, where the individual students needs are considered and provided for, enables students to feel comfortable and inspires confidence. Students who have SEN needs feel better equipped to learn when lessons are tailored for them, and those who do not have additional needs are also encouraged by these strategies. I have great empathy with students and often make meaningful relationships quickly, which helps students to feel supported emotionally and educationally. I strive to enable all my students to reach their full potential whatever their starting point.
