Hello, I’m Sarah! I am a qualified secondary maths teacher and tutor children from Year 7 to Year 11 in maths.
I have taught for just over four years and have experience in supporting students with varying prior attainment. I have taught both higher and foundation students for GCSE and tutored students taking their exams with various exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel).
I enjoy tutoring as it allows me to ensure that every lesson is completely adapted to the student’s needs and interests. I am passionate about providing all children with a high-quality education and believe that all children can do well at maths, given the time and resources needed. Sometimes, all that is needed is a little extra support!
I use lots of praise and encouragement to build children’s confidence with maths. I want every child to know that making mistakes is a part of learning maths and that there are multiple ways of solving problems – one of the most wonderful things about maths! I have an interactive approach to teaching and believe that discussions and visual representations are they key to develop understanding.
I am a qualified secondary maths teacher. I completed my secondary maths PGCE with Distinction from the University of Nottingham in 2020 and have been teaching at a secondary school in Nottingham since. I have A grades in maths in GCSE and A levels.
I have also tutored maths online for four years. I have experience with various exam boards such as AQA, OCR and Edexcel and am aware of the requirements and can tailor my teaching to the student's requirements.
I believe that everyone can be successful at maths. I have taken a mastery in maths course and believe that representations can be extremely helpful to gain a deeper understanding of maths, making it accessible to everyone.
I am patient, believe in using praise and encouragement to motivate and engage students and increase their maths confidence. I enjoy teaching and learning, and work with my students to help them achieve their goals.
