I am a secondary school teacher of English and Drama with over ten years of experience and a PGCE from the Institute of Education. I have a strong track record, with most students making excellent progress. I specialize in adapting to individual learning needs and have extensive experience with the AQA GCSE curriculum, particularly in English Literature and English Language.
In addition to teaching, I am a qualified boxing coach, mentoring several youth and schoolboy national champions. I empower students to excel both academically and athletically, fostering good study habits and discipline. I look forward to helping more young people reach their full potential.

I will begin by assessing student's previous work and discussing individual needs with them. From here I can establish strengths and weaknesses, and develop a plan of action to meet the needs of the learner.
I make extensive use of modelling and shared writing to highlight a range of linguistic techniques that are necessary for attaining higher grades at GCSE. I will also provide a structure that can be applied to most creative writing questions that ensures a range of structural features are incorporated into writing.
After modelling and shared writing, I will set independent tasks to practice the skills we have worked on and then go over completed work with the student giving feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. The student will then have time to redraft taking feedback into account and levelling up their writing.
After completing a number of tasks with the student and assessing their abilities I will collaborate with them to create a bespoke plan of action with the required resources to work on areas of development. The resources will depend on the needs of the student but may include: past papers, gap fill exercises, extracts to annotate, model answers to assess and other revision resources.
