Hello! I'm a freelance actor, tutor and workshop facilitator based in Muswell Hill, North London. I studied at the University of Bristol and graduated with a First Class (Honours) degree in History.
As an actor, I regularly work on stage, screen and audio. I also work as a playwright and screenwriter and am currently working on commissions for the Almeida Theatre in London, Middle Child in Hull and BBC Radio 4. I have previously worked on a freelance basis as a reader for InterAct Stroke Support, a charity dedicated to supporting stroke recovery by using professional actors to deliver hospital readings and community projects; as an anti-extremism workshop facilitator for Reveal Theatre Company; and as diversity and inclusion trainer for Bi-Jingo! and The Garnett Foundation. Further experience includes part-time work at The Rex Cinema in Berkhamsted while studying for my A Levels, an internship in the Strategic Centre for Organised Crime at the Home Office, and an internship in the valuations team at Savills. I have also volunteered as a befriender for BucksVision, a charity for the visually-impaired, and mentored young people interested in a career in the performing arts on behalf of Arts Emergency.
I grew up abroad and have lived in England since the age of eight. My other passions include football (I'm a long-suffering Watford FC supporter!), tennis, reading and travelling.
While studying for my A Levels, I was a voluntary teaching assistant at Greenway Primary School in Berkhamsted. Alongside my undergraduate studies, I worked part-time as an Ambassador for the Financial & Legal Skills Partnership: this involved delivering presentations to sixth form students in the South West about career opportunities available to them in the finance sector. More recently, I have served as Guest Lecturer on the University of Notre Dame's summer theatre programme for American students, worked as a Drama Facilitator for Reveal Theatre Company and Emil Dale Academy, and also worked on a freelance basis for communications training firms Bi-Jingo! and The Garnett Foundation. These experiences have enhanced my ability to engage with people from a range of backgrounds.
I have tutored privately through First Tutors since 2015, supporting students of a variety of ages and backgrounds in preparation for entrance exams, the 11+, GCSEs, A Levels, and often more generally as a mentor and Study Skills specialist. I have also tutored for Tutors Green, a London-based agency that specialises in providing academic and mentoring support for young people with lived experience of the care and/or asylum system.
I have a 100% success rate in helping students gain admission to their preferred school, in improving GCSE and A Level grades, and in coaching performing arts students to achieve desired outcomes in LAMDA exams and drama school auditions.
Reviews from First Tutors' clients are available to view below. I'd also be happy to provide more detailed professional references, if required.
I am a friendly tutor with strong interpersonal skills and would love to find out more about the individual I'd be helping. This would, of course, involve learning about academic strengths and areas for improvement, but a more personal approach is vital, too, in order to identify interests and hobbies. Engaging with a student in an empathetic manner is key to a good working relationship. I believe that as I've very recently passed through the GCSE, A Level and university application processes, I'm in a strong position to understand contemporary pressures on students and the academic commitment their aspirations demand. Prior to the first tuition session, I will endeavour to find out more about a student's current syllabus in order to hit the ground running with full coursework and examination requirements in mind.
