Struggling to find a tutor who truly gets you and how you learn best? Let’s work together to discover strategies that match your interests and help you succeed!
Hey! My name is Sophie, and I’m here to help you master French and math with ease and confidence. As an MSc Management and Strategy student at LSE and a graduate of a bilingual Russian-French school, have a deep grasp of these subjects, allowing me to tailor lessons to your unique needs. I’ve had the rewarding experience of teaching extracurricular French classes to middle and high school students at my former school, and I also have experience tutoring math. Whether you're aiming to boost your conversational skills, improve grammar, or strengthen math fundamentals, my blend of subject knowledge and teaching experience will guide you on your journey to success.
With over five years of tutoring experience, I’ve had the privilege of guiding a total of 34 students through their journeys in both French and math. From mastering grammar to tackling key exams like the DELF, as well as strengthening core math skills and preparing for assessments, my experience has been broad and rewarding. My tutoring journey began in high school when I realized my passion for helping others succeed in French, and over the years, I’ve expanded this to include math as well—supporting students in building both subject fluency and confidence.
Having worked with students ranging from primary schoolers to high schoolers and beyond, I bring a wealth of expertise to every session. I’ve conducted one-on-one lessons tailored to individual learning styles, as well as group classes where students learn and grow together. Through interactive activities, cultural discussions, exam preparation strategies, and hands-on math exercises, I’ve refined my approach to meet the diverse needs of each student.
Whether it’s boosting grades, improving confidence, or sparking a love for both French culture and math, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of personalized tutoring. My goal is not only to teach these subjects but also to inspire curiosity and equip my students with the skills they need to become independent learners.
My tutoring approach prioritizes patience, clarity, and a tailored teaching style that adapts to each student’s unique learning needs—whether in French or math. When tackling complex French grammar, like the distinction between passé composé and imparfait, I simplify concepts into relatable terms. For example, I liken passé composé to a snapshot—capturing completed actions, while imparfait is more like a video, showing ongoing or habitual actions. Using everyday examples like “J’ai fini mes devoirs” (I finished my homework) or “Je lisais chaque soir” (I used to read every evening), I make these tenses practical and easy to understand.
In math, I apply the same approach by breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, layering in theory and real-life applications to build problem-solving skills progressively. My aim is to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, exploring new concepts that are not taught in school, and refining their skills in math or French.
Ultimately, I am dedicated to empowering my students to not just pass exams but to communicate confidently in French and tackle math challenges with ease, equipping them with the tools and confidence they need . Let’s embark on this learning journey together!
