I've been happily teaching A Level English in colleges for 12 years and tutoring students since 2018. A Level is my specialism - Literature or Language (or both!) as I know the various specs inside out and know what students need to succeed. I have further experience of GCSE during that time through both tutoring and re-sit programmes at college and knowing what is required at A Level can help push and support these GCSE students even further as I know what comes next. I'm still a teacher during the day, so I am familiar with classroom life, student progress and practical exam strategies and use these to support in the sessions to reassure and encourage students to success.

I love my subject, to the point where I've just finished studying for my Masters degree in English alongside my teaching job, and means you will see my genuine enthusiasm and dedication for the subject.

Tutoring Approach

As a teacher and tutor my aim is to make sure the student feels as secure as possible. It's vital the student feels comfortable with learning and doesn't feel concerned about getting things wrong to get them right. Working on small areas can make a big difference, and I like to reassure students by identifying key areas of focus that will help them with the bigger exam technique.

I have a calm, reassuring and practical approach to tutoring and I'm happy to be guided by the student in terms of content to help them overcome any obstacles. Ultimately I aim to help them to achieve the best results and leave them feeling more secure and confident, hopefully having enjoyed the session.
