Stephanie

I am a qualified tutor based in London, certified by the UK Higher Education Academy. I teach students professionally from GCSE to University level.

I hold an Ma Diploma at Distinction level for Teaching Art, Design & Communication. My two degrees in English Literature & Language and Fashion Design & Technology mean that I am able to help with a vast range of Arts and Humanities subjects from essays, theory and research to written tasks.

The only thing more rewarding for me than the buzz of achieving my own goals is helping others to achieve theirs.

Tutoring Experience

Academic Teaching:
I am currently teaching at a London university as well as, privately tutoring students from other universities and colleges. I also run a proofreading service for BA/MA dissertations and professional documents.

For the past 10 years, I have been offering private tuition in the following areas:

  • GCSE and A LEVEL English Literature & Language. Art and Technology.

  • BA studies: Architecture, Business, Childhood, English Literature & Language, Fashion, Law, Marketing, Nursing, Philosophy, Tourism, Translation. I have helped students to write Cultural and Historical studies essays as well as, end of year dissertations.

  • MA studies: Fashion, Education, Marketing and Tourism where I facilitated the writing of MA proposals and dissertations by helping with: research methods, literature reviews, findings and conclusions.

Prior to teaching in Higher Education, I worked as a mentor at an educational psychology firm. I ran courses that improved examination pass rates across GCSEs and A levels in schools around London. During these courses, I mentored a group of students in GCSE English studies with low predicted grades. My group of 12 students achieved 100% pass rate with all exceeding predictions by at least 2 grades. Collectively, the Saturday school typically increased a school's average pass rate by 30% from previous years.

Bespoke Teaching Service:
I have had the pleasure of meeting international students, casual adult learners of English and business professionals who have contacted me to arrange week long courses in London. I have created custom made English Language specifications that were tailored to individual student needs. I have combined this with cultural experiences with the aim of improving students' English conversation and pronunciation skills.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that academic success is not only about the acquisition of knowledge but also about learning how to learn. Also, that success is in the hands of any tutee who is motivated to learn and equipped with the relevant skills of learning that a subject requires.

My teaching style is customised to suit you.
This means that it is aligned with your goals, engaging and relevant to you and will give you transferrable learning skills as well as, technical ability and knowledge in your subject.

My teaching methods vary according to my tutee's strengths and particular needs. During our first lesson I will discover your requirements in detail, gauge your strengths and weaknesses and your preferred learning style. We will use these to reach your potential.

Thereafter, I will tailor each lesson to suit your needs and work towards achieving your desired goal in the time frame we have. My teaching style is interactive and you can expect interesting and relevant lessons. Along the way, I will introduce you to some self-reflective learning activities that will encourage you to reflect critically on your own work and give you independence and confidence.
