Feedback received include:
"We would not hesitate in recommending Stephen for any tutoring post. He helped our daughter gain the grades she needed to successfully apply for a place on the Dentistry course at the University of Glasgow."
- 6th Year, A in Advanced Higher Chemistry, now doing Dentistry.
"I was nervous before meeting Stephen but he is a really nice person and put me completely at ease straight away...and helps me to explain things really clearly and in a way that is easy to understand".
- 5th Year, A in Higher Physics, now doing a Technical Engineering Apprenticeship
I have a teaching method that has worked consistently and effectively through maintaining an in-depth knowledge of intended learning outcomes for the school courses. This has resulted in many of my students returning year after year!
I have helped students all the way from primary school to university, having taught primary school maths to final-year university quantum mechanics, in addition to self-taught courses, college and entrance exams.
I have not only assisted in chemistry, maths and physics, but have helped in CV writing and job/university applications.
Any additional questions then please don't hesitate to contact me.
A reference can be supplied from people I have tutored from in the past.
Each tuition session tends to focus on one or two specific topics in the course, with learning through use of diagrams and students working through examples.
I aim to help develop each student's critical thinking as far as possible, helping them step through the logical path to the final result, a skill that is extremely important for maths and science. Of course, repetition and muscle memory are also key for learning and so HW questions are regularly set. (There is a direct correlation between doing homework and achieving a high grade!!)
Closer to the prelims and exams, practicing past papers are a really useful tool and so these are used around these times.
