I am passionate about teaching and learning, having worked as a Biology and Science Teacher for over 20 years. I have also trained over 40 new teachers on teaching pedagogy and how children learn. My other passion is Neuroscience and Psychology, and I run courses and workshops both online and in schools to help pupils achieve success.
I am fortunate to have travelled the world and lived in Brazil for 6 years. I enjoy skiing, scuba diving and martial arts.

My philosophy in teaching is that the most important criteria when establishing a good learning environment is to foster a positive relationship, rooted in mutual respect. I am passionate about Biology and Science in general and will certainly ensure that I express that in my teaching to help create engagement. I will ensure that within every lesson there is some assessment for learning, alongside the embedding of content. Often my role as a tutor is to consolidate understanding so that it can be applied to exam style questions, and so my focus will always be on assimilating knowledge in my students, so that they recall the correct details and gain more marks to specific questions. Students will then naturally develop confidence and a greater enjoyment in the subject.
