During my time at university I had no idea what to do following my degree. I tried many different post graduate routes before deciding that teaching was the only career I could enjoy. Since then I have taught in a variety of educational settings and helped numerous students to achieve their best possible grade in chemistry, leading many of them to study for careers in medicine, the sciences and veterinary medicine as well as successfully applying to some of the UK's top universities.
I have been teaching for 10 years, the last 6 of which have been spent as a head of chemistry at a large secondary in the East Midlands. During this time I have driven curriculum change from year 7 through to 13 to create a knowledge focussed curriculum that allows students to secure their knowledge before applying it.
To succeed in chemistry students need to have a firm grasp of the basics. I support students to achieve their potential by leading them through questions designed to secure their knowledge before gradually increasing the level of challenge. My resources are designed so that all students can master the subject, from knowledge recall through to complex calculations I aim to ensure all students have the opportunity to realise their potential.
