I have been teaching A-level Physics for six years and have marked A-level Physics exam papers (AS and A2) for the last five years. Last year I was promoted to the position of Team Leader for the new specification. This involved attending a three day meeting in Cambridge where we finalised the mark scheme. I also supervised a team of assessors with their marking. I love teaching physics and believe that if students work hard and take on advice they can reach their potential and that all students can achieve a minimum of a grade B.
I have taught AS and A2 Physics for six years at a non-selective Further Education college (16 to 18 year olds). Last summer 75% of my students achieved A* - B grades (the national average is 52%). I have marked exam papers for OCR at AS and A-level for the last five years. My teaching has been graded as outstanding or equivalent for the last five years.
I focus on students weaknesses first and aim to boost confidence. A 1:1 environment gives students the opportunity to ask questions freely and allows me as a tutor to easily identify areas that need to worked on. Having the experience of marking exam papers enables me to direct students to the key terms and language that they should use in order to secure marks effectively and efficiently.
