Enthusiastic, motivational, flexible and adaptable is how my current students would describe me.
I absolutely love my job because it enables me to see others reach their full potential. I enjoy speaking to people from a wide range of backgrounds as I see it as an opportunity to learn, which is probably why I’m learning Spanish at the moment (Estor tratando de aprender espanol). Alongside my job, you can find me playing sport whether that is football, climbing, and it looks like fencing will be added to that list soon enough. I also walk 3 beautiful dogs (Anbu, Mano & Jeba) and will be taking them to climb Snowdonia in the next few weeks. I live by the philosophy that time is limited, and I enjoy making the most of everyday and acquiring new experiences.
I am currently a unviersity lecturer working within the psychology department for Nottingham Trent University (NTU). I am in my fifth academic year and have acquired a wide range of experience that could help support your success. This has been illustrated as I have recently been nominated for the Vice Chancellor's Teaching Excellence award.
During my time NTU, I have taught students from each year of undergraduate study and also have taught on a postgraduate conversion course. The experience of teaching on a wide range of modules has allowed me to develop a range of knowledge on key areas of psychology, such as qualitative research, individual differences, and professional practice. That said, I prioritise making the knowledge accessible to my students and thus explain complex ideas and clear and precise manner.
My responsibilities have included providing feedback on a range of assessments (essays, practical reports and presentations) to students in a clear, engaging and positive manner. Furthermore, I’m a big believer that learning should be fun which is why as part of my tutoring you can expect to engage with Quiz’s and interactive software like Kahoot. I am highly regarded by students and colleagues for my enthusiasm, energy, and student-centred approach, including the development of extra-curricular activities such as course representative and mentor schemes. I receive excellent student feedback for all aspects of my teaching and student support which resulted in a nomination for a teaching award last year.
In addition to my experience above, I have also worked as a Trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist for GB Women's Ice Hockey, British Canoeing and Sheffield Wednesday. As part of this experience, I have worked with a number of athletes and athletes from a wide range of backgrounds and of various ages. My time was split between 1-1 appointments and group workshops where I delivered content on how to create goals, develop a growth mindset and build confidence. This demanded a high degree of personal organisation, commitment, and time management to ensure that I fulfil a range of commitments. Overall, I strongly believe this experience would contribute to building a positive and engaging environment for tutoring.

My approach as a tutor is that we're a team. I'm aware that through any journey there will success to celebrate and challenges to overcome and together we can do just that. I value honesty from both my clients and students to enable me to learn what works and develop an environment where individuals can thrive. On that point, I’m happy to share that I suffer from OCD. I understand that there are occasions that poor mental health can make it difficult to concentrate and make progress, which is why if this was something you were concerned about, we can make a plan together to make manageable goals that you can achieve. Equally, I value your feedback so we can easily make alterations if there were anything that you’d like to change about the way the sessions were delivered.
