I am interested in just about all Arts/Humanities subjects and love helping people to learn, think and explore. I took early retirement from education and now work as a non-stipendiary Congregational minister. I am open minded and tolerant, friendly with a good sense of humour. I have been a Housemaster, run DofE, put on plays, acted myself, run a Cadet Force, run charities, done part time gardening. I have a passion for learning and education and love helping others to learn and expand their horizons. i have an enhanced DBS and Safeguarding for Children in Education, both updated February 2022.
I have taught in state and independent secondary schools. I have taught English Literature, Religious Studies and Classical Civilisation, all to A Level and A/S Level English Language. Also Drama to GCSE as well as some history, philosophy and critical thinking. I have always been adaptable and flexible and have taught pupils of all abilities. I have 30 year's experience in education.
Cheerful, enthusiastic, explore around the subject, but also home in on exam techniques and what the examiner wants to see. I assess individual strengths, weaknesses and needs and what works best for the individual. I teach the pupil first, the subject second, which in my experience achieves the best results.
