Live in Worcester after moving here 3 years ago. Children at local schools. Keen on football and cricket. Passionate about helping children to achieve and believe that tuition isn't just for those considered to be underperforming but can benefit learners of any ability.
Highly experienced KS2 teacher since 1998, having worked in schools in the north-west of England and West Midlands. Former Deputy Headteacher. Additional qualification in provision for Able and Talented pupils. Experience working with children with a range of learning needs, including ASD. 10 years of previous tutoring experience, either to improve confidence, raise attainment, or prepare children for SATs or entrance/11plus examinations.
Tuition isn't school! Therefore, it needs to be fun and engaging while teaching the core skills that children need to succeed and make progress. Sessions are relaxed but children are empowered to believe they can achieve, rather than feeling that they can't. They are actively encouraged to ask questions, experiment with new ideas, or to try different approaches: not understanding something - or getting something wrong - is not a crime but a valuable part of the learning process. It's through our mistakes that we know how to do better in future.
