I'm a fully qualified teacher, who has worked at a variety of comprehensive and grammar schools teaching Physics, Maths and with a range of other roles. I have more than 10 years of experience in schools, and 7 years experience of private tuition, mostly one-to-one but also in small groups. I also mark A-level Physics papers for one of the major exam boards. My degree and training are in the Mathematical side of Physics, and so I offer A-level Physics, Maths, and Further Maths and love teaching the subjects to willing students.
I'm an experienced Physics and Maths teacher, and ran departments in schools for many years. As well as teaching GCSEs I particularly like A-level teaching, both in Physics, Maths, and in Further Maths. I have been a head of Physics, head of A-level Maths, Head of Science and Assistant Head of 6th Form, responsible for the UCAS process, and Russell Group and Oxbridge admissions. I also now work marking A-level papers.
I also have lots of experience in assisting students with applications to Oxbridge and other Russell Group Universities, including personal statement advice, practice interviews, and entrance examinations. Large numbers of my former students have gone on to top Universities to study Physics, Maths, Astronomy or Engineering. I have been tutoring for the last 7 years.
If we work online, I send all my notes, and any resources we use, to the student after the lesson as PDFs, for them to use in their own time.
I will work with a student before we meet to identify which areas need work, and how to go about fixing whatever problems there might be.
I tailor my tuition to whatever the student needs, whether that means me teaching parts of the Physics, Maths or Further Maths course from scratch, helping students with exam technique by guiding them while they answer questions, or whatever else is required. Whether online or in person, no students get the same, standard lesson - I do for each what they need on an individual basis, for their specific syllabus and the specific demands of their exam board. I also use a wide range of resources, both freely available and my own, to help my teaching and the student's understanding.
