My name is Steve and I am a very experienced teacher. Whilst training , I worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, supporting class teachers and leading lessons in their absence. I have many years of experience in supporting learning, differentiating the tasks to best support the individual. I live in Christchurch and teach in an amazing Primary School. I have led pupils through the stressful SATS process to successful conclusions. I have much experience with children with additional needs. I am married, with a 12 year old son and 4 very playful dogs!!!
I trained as a Primary practitioner following a successful career in professional musical theatre. Whilst studying, I worked in a primary school as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for 5 years. This role required supporting children with complex needs, working 1-2-1 with children with ASC and supporting whole class learning.
I currently teach in a large Primary School in Year 5. As well as this, I have tutored years 4,5 and 8.
I approach learning with your child’s well-being in mind first and foremost . I believe that their learning will be deeper when these needs are met at the very start of working together. Every child is individual and their needs will be also.
I start every initial interaction by assessing what the student already knows - why waist time on the things they are already successful at? From this point, we can work together on the areas needing development. I work with your child, discussing my metacognition and setting goals with them - they are also in control of their learning and setting of targets.
