My daughter is 15 and we have started extra English tuition. Whilst being ok at English, she is lacking some confidence in her own ability. I also feel her current school do not appear to do enough in explaining how to go about answering the "English" questions being asked on Exams. My daughter has had 3 lessons with Susan so far. I am already seeing her confidence build and the work she is completing is improving. She is adding more content to her work and is more aware of how she should be answering the questions, something which was lacking in the school she attends.

I am getting regular feedback from Susan on how my child is doing and things she needs to work on. Homework is set which also helps her build on what she has learnt and to put it into practice when answering these style of questions.

I looks forward to seeing my daughters confidence build and seeing what this additional tuition achieve.

Sue is an excellent tutor. She has excellent subject knowledge. She understands the areas my daughter needs to focus on and develop. She gives written feedback at the end of each lesson and provides follow on homework.

Our first impressions of Susan have been very positive. We initially booked 4 sessions to provide support for our daughter who will be undertaking entrance exams for secondary school later in the year. I stop continuing lessons with Susan.
In the beginning when she let me buy the wrong book I got bad feeling. I gave her a chance
As English tutor I can't recommend her at all.
She ignored constantly my questions instead giving me answers like I will it explain in an other hour. She even does a lot of spelling mistakes.
She didn't seem qualified at all. Probably it is the reason why her qualifications weren't approved by firsttutors.
She is a nice and funny person. Most time of our lesson she talked about her life and her hard life. Interesting not helpful.
She was very cheeky as well and asked for a positive review.
Hopefully she take this feedback serious and starts finally genuinely helping their students.

Here are the facts: Your reviews were unfounded. You only had 2 lessons and stopped half way through the second say you had work.
1. You commented at the end of both classes you that had enjoyed them. You then booked your next session and at no stage said you were unhappy. Please in the future be clear and honest with your next tutor. I care deeply about all my students and would never treat people in the way you have described.

You were given the latest additions of the books which are recognised internationally as practice IELTS. exam books.
2. After the first class, you mentioned you had enjoyed it and booked in your second class.
3. You mentioned you felt ‘ignored’ … This is totally not true . I took extra time, and I always do when you are a new client to help you settle because you said you were struggling with the grammar. I gave you extra time to finish your exam . We went over each question and you actually obtained a good score for your first time.
Your received careful and clear explanations… Additionally a fuller explanation was given at the end of the class with a grammar link to support your learning. At no stage did I say I will leave everything till last. I always back up my points with examples and then give extra links to reinforce your learning so you can spend time yourself going over things in your own time. To give a score of 1 is unfounded. You were given plenty of support and reinforcement with extra materials sent to you outside of your class time.

4.I have all my teaching certificates and my English Hons degree certificates certified by First Tutors
. I have been teaching for some 20 plus years and tutoring for longer.
5. You wanted to talk about your family and life, so to build rapport I mentioned some of my family info.
6. You mentioned I had ADHD ( which has kindly been removed by First Tutors) this is again untrue and frankly bizarre as ironically I teach and help support students with special needs with DSA packages at at various universiities in the UK.
I run my own business and provide education **Contact Detail Removed** internationally to independent schools.
4.The remarks you have made are untrue and unjustified. You only had 2 lessons

Didnt actually have a session with susan so i cant comment on the tutoring. Susan agreed to a friday session, there was problems with the skype as she accidently blocked our account prior to the session and this couldnt be rectified easily. We still agreed to try again the following week if things could be sorted out for skype to be used but Sue now has cancelled due to taking up lecturing on a friday. I am disappointed as I have paid £25 to release a tutors details and now have no tutor for my son.

Hi Ria , I did offer your husband 2 alternative times, which you decided weren’t suitable. You then changed your minds to receiving on line tutoring. I have used this site for over 10 years most parents accommodate a change. But I understand if what was offered wasn’t suitable. I wish you well.

We have been very happy with Susan's tutoring for our 10 year old daughter. Susan is very thorough and has a lot of experience relating to 11+ exams and is very quick to identify areas of study required to get to the required levels. Susan offers many tips and methods to gain knowledge and to help retain it for future use.
