Throughout my working life, I have had a consistent aim - to help students maximise their potential. With over twenty years teaching experience, I will help you to improve your subject specific skills and boost your confidence. I am PGCE and DBS qualified
I have taught English Literature and Drama & Theatre Studies at A Level at a sixth form college for more than twenty years and was Subject Head for Drama and Theatre Studies for twelve years. In addition to my role as a subject tutor, I have also extensive experience in offering pastoral support to my tutees.
My approach is to offer professional help in a friendly, positive and non intimidating way. I will work with you on the topics studied in the classroom and focus on the demands of a particular task - in essay planning, writing that elusive first paragraph, or focusing on how to study more effectively. We will look at the assessment criteria so that the work will be focused and relevant. It is very important for you to be active, rather than passive. Come to each session with a list of questions or pointers that you want to clarify or expand. Jot them down as you thinking of them during your classroom lessons and that will give us something to work on together.
