I am a passionate and dedicated maths teacher currently undertaking my PGCE, with a strong academic background in mathematics and problem-solving. My mathematical expertise has been refined through both my Chemical Engineering Bachelor's degree and my Advanced Chemical Engineering Master's degree, equipping me with a deep understanding of complex mathematical concepts. Throughout my studies, I have developed a particular strength in algebra, problem-solving, and numerical reasoning, which I now enjoy sharing with students.
I firmly believe that maths should be enjoyable and accessible for all students. My aim is not just to help students reach their school targets, but to push beyond them and help them achieve their full potential. Every student has the ability to succeed in maths with the right guidance, and I strive to instil confidence in their abilities. I am a patient and supportive tutor who genuinely enjoys helping students develop a love for mathematics while ensuring they achieve the highest grades possible.
As a PGCE trainee teacher, I have experience teaching in schools, working with students of various ages and abilities. This has allowed me to understand different learning styles and adapt my teaching methods accordingly.
My background in chemical engineering has given me first-hand experience of how maths is applied in real-world scenarios, from calculations in engineering design to complex problem-solving. I use this knowledge to show students the practical applications of maths, helping them see the value and relevance of what they are learning.
Alongside my PGCE training, I have worked with students preparing for GCSE and A-Level exams, helping them build strong mathematical foundations and develop strategies for tackling even the most challenging questions.
I tailor my teaching approach to each student’s individual needs, identifying their strengths and areas for improvement. I believe that understanding the "why" behind mathematical concepts is just as important as knowing how to apply them, so I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, understandable steps.
Some key aspects of my approach include:
✅ Step-by-step explanations – Ensuring students grasp the core concepts before moving on to more challenging problems.
✅ Exam techniques and strategies – Teaching students how to approach exam questions efficiently, manage their time, and maximise marks.
✅ Making maths engaging – Using real-life examples, puzzles, and interactive methods to make learning enjoyable.
✅ Building confidence – Encouraging students to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from them in a supportive environment.
✅ Stretching students beyond their targets – While schools may set targets, I believe in pushing students further to achieve even more than they thought possible.
Above all, I aim to remove the fear around maths and help students see it as a subject they can truly excel in.
